Guiding Principles: Visibility, Proximity and Safety

Safe Assembly Areas are located in highly visible places that are in close proximity of Olympic venue access points. The use of Safe Assembly Areas is optional as lawful assembly is permitted in all public areas as guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The V2010 Integrated Security Unit and our law enforcement partners within the police forces of jurisdiction have no intention to restrict lawful advocacy, protest and dissent to those areas. We will to continue protect the rights of Canadians to voice their opinions using lawful methods and activities, while protecting the public’s right to attend the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in peace and safety, without disruption.
